Hydra Pen H6 is the serum-carrying pen in the Dr. Pen range. A 3 mL reservoir is built into the head, the flow rate is adjustable, and depth is set from 0 mm to 2.0 mm on a dedicated control button. The handpiece also carries a 630 nm red and 470 nm blue LED.
Serum is released at the needle field, not reapplied by hand
On a needling-only pen the serum is applied by hand alongside the pass. The H6 moves that step into the handpiece: the 3 mL chamber sits inside the head and the pen feeds from it as the head travels, so serum is delivered at the needle field, onto skin that has just been needled, rather than pressed on afterwards.
The chamber arrives dry, because a sealed head has to sit on a shelf until it is used; filling it also keeps the choice of product with the operator. The key in the box opens it, and the full-colour display shows depth, flow and battery state during a pass.
Getting a light, medium or heavy serum to feed evenly
Flow is the setting this pen is judged on. Start at the lowest setting and rise through it rather than beginning high. Keep the head square to the skin, since tilting the handpiece produces dripping and uneven coverage. Clear the air first: a bubble trapped at the top is the usual reason a head that looks full delivers nothing.
Product weight decides where the setting lands, and a light serum runs lower than a heavy one. The chamber can be refilled inside a session, and an anti-reverse-flow arrangement keeps serum out of the handpiece body.
Depth from 0 to 2.0 mm, the LED, and what a result depends on
Depth is set on the dedicated control button and runs from 0 mm to 2.0 mm, lower than the 2.5 mm of the needling-only models here and the limit of this device rather than a figure to work around. The handpiece also carries a 630 nm red and a 470 nm blue LED, and both run with the session. What the light changes in skin is not something we put a figure on, and the reason for buying this pen is the infusion and the depth control.
A session is decided by three things together: the depth and flow the pen supplies, a head used for the first time, and the serum loaded into the chamber. Change any one of them and the session changes with it.

How to check your Hydra Pen H6 is genuine
A genuine H6 box carries an authenticity label on the outside of the retail packaging: a silver scratch-off panel printed with a partial QR code and a security number beneath it. Scratch the panel gently with a coin, read the full code, then scan it or enter it at the verification site named on the label and confirm the result before the first use. Does the Hydra Pen H6 actually infuse serum, or does it just leak onto the skin?
No, and it is not a leak either. The H6 passes no serum through hollow needles and delivers no measured dose below the surface; the chamber feeds at the needle field, so serum reaches the skin as that skin is needled rather than being spread on afterwards. Dripping is a sign the flow setting or the angle is off, not that the head cannot deliver.
How do I stop the serum dripping, or running out halfway through?
Start with the flow setting: run it low and come up rather than starting high. Keep the head square to the skin, because tilting the handpiece is what produces dripping and patchy coverage. Clear the air before starting, since a bubble at the top of the chamber is the usual reason a head that looks full delivers nothing. If the chamber empties faster than the face takes, the flow setting is the first thing to change. Refilling during a session is normal.
What can I fill the H6 reservoir with?
A sterile product intended for micro-needling: a serum or ampoule formulated for this use, in a sealed vial. A session opens channels in the skin, so what is loaded matters. Jarred cosmetics carry preservatives and fragrance and collect more each time they are opened, and those are poor things to introduce into a fresh channel. A dropper that has touched skin should not go back into the bottle.
Do the H6 heads need sterilising before the first use?
No. Each head arrives in its own sealed sterile blister, so nothing needs doing before first use; home alcohol soaks reduce surface bacteria but are not sterilisation, and they do nothing for needle sharpness. A head is single-use, and a reused one drags rather than cutting clean channels.
What depth range does the Hydra Pen H6 cover?
The range is 0 mm to 2.0 mm, set on the dedicated control button. Home use sits inside that with room to spare: facial sessions stay at or below 1.0 mm and body work runs to about 1.5 mm, so depths beyond 2.0 mm belong with trained practitioners rather than with a home routine. This pen is bought for the serum it carries, not for the deepest needle in the range.
How often should the Hydra Pen H6 be used?
Three to four weeks between sessions. The visible change comes from the skin rebuilding after a session, and that process takes weeks, so sessions run closer together interrupt it rather than adding to it. Let redness clear completely before the next one, and use a fresh head every time.
