These are the replacement cartridges for the Dr. Pen Ultima A6S, the Professional Plus handpiece — and the identical heads also fit the Dr. Pen M8 and the Dr. Pen M7S. One cartridge line covers all three pens; the versions differ only in colour, which is cosmetic and changes nothing about fit or performance.
Which A6S head, and where it goes
The line runs from 11-pin up to 42-pin, with two nano heads at the gentle end. Depth is set on the pen; the head decides how much skin you cover in one pass.
| Head | Best for | Typical depth |
|---|---|---|
| 11-pin | Focused work — one scar, one line, an area you want to control closely | 0.25–0.5 mm |
| 16-pin | The A6S workhorse — whole-face passes, cheeks and forehead, pores and texture | 0.25–1.0 mm |
| 24-pin | Faster full-face coverage when the whole face is being treated in one sitting | 0.25–1.0 mm |
| 36-pin | Body and scalp — stretch marks, larger areas, hairline work | 0.5–1.5 mm |
| 42-pin | The widest head here, for the largest areas and the fewest passes | 0.5–1.5 mm |
| Round Nano | Surface work — serum infusion, under-eye, weekly upkeep | ≤ 0.25 mm — no needles |
| 5D Nano | The multi-angle nano tip — brightening and pigment routines across wider areas | ≤ 0.25 mm — no needles |
Safe depth by concern is in our needle depth guide — at home, keep facial depth at or below 1.0 mm; above 1.5 mm is for trained practitioners.
The bayonet fit
The A6S uses an enhanced bayonet mount rather than a simple clip: the head turns and locks, with no play once it is seated. That design exists for speed — the A6S motor runs at 16,000–18,000 RPM, and a head that shifts even slightly needles at an angle, which is what leaves scratchy, uneven coverage. A head seated here also comes off and goes straight onto an M8 or an M7S, because it is the same cartridge.
- Lock it, then check it. Seat the head and give it a light pull. If it moves, it is not seated.
- One head, three pens. A6S, M8 and M7S take the same cartridge; only the colour differs, and the colour is cosmetic.
- One head per session. The bayonet and the sterile blister are both built around single use.
What arrives, and what to check
- Individually sealed. One head per sterile blister, EO gas sterilised, labelled as such.
- Dated on the pack. Manufacturing and expiry printed on every blister.
- Traceable. We are an authorised Dr. Pen retailer and buy through the official supply chain — how to verify your Dr. Pen.
A cartridge that turns up loose and undated is the clearest single sign of a copy, and a copy is where both fit and sterility stop being guaranteed. Needles are single-use for the same reason: a used head drags instead of cutting clean channels — see can you reuse Dr. Pen cartridges?

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there no 12-pin or 18-pin in the A6S range?
Because the A6S has its own range: 11, 16, 24, 36 and 42-pin, plus Round Nano and 5D Nano. The 12-pin and 18-pin heads belong to other Dr. Pen cartridge systems and will not fit this pen. Looking for the A6S equivalent of a 12-pin? That is the 11-pin, for tight focused work. The equivalent of an 18-pin is the 16-pin, for whole-face passes.
What is the difference between the Round Nano and the 5D Nano?
Both are nano heads, so neither one needles — they work on the surface. Round Nano has a rounded tip and suits small, flat or delicate areas: under the eye, the lip border, pressing a serum in. 5D Nano uses a refined multi-angle tip that covers a wider area more evenly, which is why it is the usual choice for brightening and pigment routines across the cheeks and forehead.
Is an A6S cartridge the same as an M8 or M7S cartridge?
Yes — it is the same cartridge. The A6S, M8 and M7S share one cartridge line right across 11-pin to 42-pin and both nano heads, and the versions differ only in colour. Order one set and it works in any of those three pens. The M8S, A8S and A11 are the pens that take a different cartridge system altogether.
What does the bayonet fitting do on the A6S?
It locks the head in place with a turn, so the cartridge cannot shift while the motor is running. At 16,000–18,000 RPM a head with any play needles at an angle, which shows up as scratchy, uneven coverage rather than a clean set of channels. A locked head is also part of why the A6S suits longer, faster passes over bigger areas.
How long can I keep sealed cartridges before using them?
Nothing to worry about if you buy for the next few months rather than for years. Every blister carries its own manufacturing and expiry date, so read the date on the pack you receive. Store unopened cartridges dry, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, and they stay sterile until that printed date.
Can one cartridge cover both my face and my neck?
Within a single sitting, yes — face and neck are treated as one session with one head. What you should not do is put a used head back in the box for next time. Needles dull after the first pass, and the blister is a single-use sterile pack.
