One cartridge line, three pens: these heads are made for the Dr. Pen M8 and the Dr. Pen M7S, and the Dr. Pen A6S takes exactly the same cartridge, the versions differ only in colour.
Which head for which job
Seven heads, from detail work through to full-body coverage, with two nano heads at the gentle end. Depth is set on the pen; the head decides how much skin one pass covers.
| Head | Best for | Typical depth |
|---|---|---|
| 11-pin | Detail work — a single line, one scar, a narrow strip you can follow closely | 0.25–0.5 mm |
| 16-pin | The M8's main head — whole-face passes; fine-gauge needles on an arced edge | 0.25–1.0 mm |
| 24-pin | Faster whole-face coverage over larger areas and diffuse texture | 0.25–1.0 mm |
| 36-pin | Body and scalp — stretch marks, larger areas, hairline work | 0.5–1.5 mm |
| 42-pin | The widest head here, for the biggest areas and the fewest passes | 0.5–1.5 mm |
| Round Nano | Surface work — serum infusion, under-eye, weekly upkeep | ≤ 0.25 mm — no needles |
| 5D Nano | The multi-angle nano tip — brightening and pigment routines across wider areas | ≤ 0.25 mm — no needles |
Safe depth by concern is in our needle depth guide — at home, keep facial depth at or below 1.0 mm; above 1.5 mm is for trained practitioners.
Why the M8's 16-pin feels different
The M8 heads use the finest needle gauge in the range, which is a large part of why owners describe M8 sessions as more comfortable than they expected: a finer needle makes a narrower channel with less drag. The 16-pin head adds an arced edge — needles set on a slight curve that flattens uneven skin as it stamps, so a textured or scarred surface meets the needles more evenly instead of taking the pressure on the high points.
- Fine gauge throughout — narrower channels, less drag, more comfort at the same depth setting.
- Arced edge on the 16-pin — built for uneven, textured or scarred surfaces.
- Depth still comes from the pen — the M8 and M7S both adjust from 0 mm to 2.5 mm.
Quality Guarantee
- One sterile blister per head, EO gas sterilised, with manufacturing and expiry dates printed on it.
- Sold single-use. Sharpness is spent in one pass; a reused head drags instead of cutting clean channels — see can you reuse Dr. Pen cartridges?
A pack that arrives loose and undated is a copy, and a copy is where fit, sterility and sharpness all stop being guaranteed. We are an authorised Dr. Pen retailer and stock comes through the official supply chain — how to verify your Dr. Pen.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
I have an M7S — are these the cartridges I need?
Yes. The M7S and the M8 share one cartridge system and the A6S takes the same heads, so this is the right line for all of them — M8-W and M8-C included. Across those pens the cartridge differs only in colour. They will not fit an M8S, an A8S or an A11: those three run their own cartridges, and theirs will not fit your M7S either.
Can I use M8S cartridges in an M8 — or M8 cartridges in an M8S?
No, in either direction. The two pens look almost identical and the pin counts sit close together, which is exactly why this is the most common mixing mistake in the Dr. Pen range. This line — M8, M7S and A6S — runs 11-pin through 42-pin; the M8S, A8S and A11 run 12-pin and 18-pin from their own system. If you own an M8 and an M8S, keep the two boxes apart.
11-pin or 16-pin — how do I choose?
Take the 11-pin if you work on specific things: a line you can point at, one scar, a narrow strip. Take the 16-pin if you are covering the face — it is the head the M8 ships with and the one most owners come back for, with an arced edge that sits better on uneven or scarred skin. Plenty of people keep both: 16-pin for the pass, 11-pin for the detail.
What should I do if a cartridge will not click into place?
Stop and read the box before you push harder. A head from this line seats with light pressure, so if it resists it is almost always an M8S cartridge rather than a stiff one. Forcing a head that does not want to sit is how the mount and the pen body get damaged. If the pack is the right line and it still will not seat, contact us and we will sort it out.
My M8 is a few years old — do these still fit it?
Yes. The cartridge system follows the model, not the production year, so an older M8 or M7S takes the same M8/M7S heads as one bought this month. Go by the family name on the pack rather than the age of your pen.
Do the M8-W and M8-C take the same cartridges?
They do. M8-W (wireless) and M8-C (corded) are both M8 handpieces, so both take this M8/M7S cartridge line — 11-pin, 16-pin, 24, 36 and 42-pin, plus the two nano heads. The battery and the cable are what differ between them; the cartridge mount does not.
